For oatmeal lovers who went through gastric banding surgery, instant oatmeal makes a great nutritious breakfast. To improve protein content, egg and milk is added during the preparation.

1/4 cup instant oat meal

1/2-3/4 cup 2 % milk

1 egg

2 table spoon of dry milk if desired (to increase protein content)

1teaspoon of natural maple syrup

Cinnamon to sprinkle on top (optional)

On medium heat, cook oatmeal milk and milk powder (optional) while mixing, about 3-4 minutes or until it is creamy. Turn off the heat and add the egg gradually while mixing till the egg is completely mixed. Egg cooks with the heat of the cereal. Place the amount of cereal that you will eat in a bowl and add the syrup and sprinkle some cinnamon on top if desired.

Note 1: Cream of wheat and instant old fashion oat meal cereal prepared with milk instead of water are great choices for breakfast. By replacing water for milk, the protein and calcium content is increased. For more protein, add an egg white to your hot cereal and mixed it quickly to blend and cook the egg white.

Note 2: Soft boil eggs are good choices for breakfast. Egg white contains a high quality protein.
