How to make Beef Broth (see Chicken broth also)

About 2 lbs of beef shank, leg, and neck or soup bones can be used instead of chicken in the chicken broth recipe.

Preparation: To make beef broth, simply use the chicken broth recipe but substitute beef shank, neck or soup bones for chicken. Some people recommend browning the bones first. Instructions for easy browning are below.

Browning instructions: Put the soup bones in a large pot. Add a spoon or two of vegetable oil and brown the beef shanks or bones on the stove for about 10 minutes on medium heat, or until browned, turning at the 5-minute mark.
